Our good friends Shawn and Jillian recently got engaged (this is a picture from Shawn's surprise proposal), as well as the lead roles together for Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at a professional theater in the East Bay. Congrats guys!!

We celebrated with a sparkling cider toast and gave Soren a glass too.

He dug it!

Tickle Me Soren

Soren is super ticklish just like his papa, but unlike papa, he loves to be tickled.

His Own Little Chair

I recently bought a little chair for Soren off of craigslist and he LOVES it!
We got it from this 3 and a half year and his mom. Soren was excited as soon as he saw it and has been saying "chair" and sitting in it every few minutes.

The king on his throne.

The little boy we got it from really liked Soren. He was holding Soren's hand, leading him around the house. He also kept wanting to give him toys to take home. Here is the bear that he gave him which he has become pretty attached to.

He puts him in his chair and talks to him.

He also gave Soren a magnetic choo choo train set which he has played with every day since.

Soren's love of music

Soren has always loved music, but he's really into singing and action songs right now. This first video is my favorite! He wanted to watch himself in the screen and I didn't even stop to think about the format. Oh well, I'm going to go ahead and post it (in 2 parts because this site won't upload anything more than about 45 secsonds) and rotate it later when I have the correct software. Enjoy : )

Favorites of the week

Since Soren was born, Jared has always said to him, "You're The Man!" A few months ago, Soren started pointing to himself and saying, "I'm the man." So I had to make him a shirt and let everyone know who
"The Man" is.

I caught this one of Soren and I playing.

Enjoying his early morning ritual, a dvd. I think he was watching "Pete's Dragon" here. He thinks Elliot is hilarious!

My future's so bright, I gotta wear shades, momma's.

Sweet shot of J and Soren.

Oakland Zoo

Soren loves to roar like a lion so I made him a lion shirt. Too bad the lions were lazy and sleeping somewhere and we didn't get see them at the zoo.

I don't remember what we were looking at here, but I thought it was a cute shot of him sitting on the railing, watching in amazement.

Papa showing Soren the giraffes.

Mama and Soren looking at the zebras.

I love this one of Soren checking out the elephants.

Smart Soren

Yesterday I saw Soren throw some paper away in the trash can, trying to clean up after himself. I took this opportunity to teach him about recycling. I told him that paper goes in the bin under the sink. Today I saw him put the paper from his package of cream of wheat in the bin. I gave him some well deserved praise and let him know how proud I was of him. He is such an intelligent kid.

Soren is growing up fast

He did a 2 years-old and up puzzle of farm animals all by himself today.
His latest phrase is, "I know." He even uses it in the correct context. The first time he said it (sometime in the last couple of weeks), I was telling him something and ended it with, "...you know?" and that was his very matter of fact reply. "I know."

He is also beginning to show more of his independence now. Jared said I had to put this story on the blog, so here it is...

Soren is usually really good about eating his green vegetables, but one day last week he did not want to. He was asking for and only wanting chicken. I told him he had to eat at least one green bean then he could have some chicken and I put the plate of green beans in front of him. He was not very happy about this. He whined and fussed for about a minute saying, "No," repeatedly, then finally gave in and ate one green bean. Then he looked at me as if to say, "Fine. Now hand over the chicken." In Jared's words, "Soren's contractual obligation was fulfilled." I gave him the chicken, he scarfed it down and didn't touch another green bean. It was pretty funny.

Picture post of Soren

Soren loves to scribble with just about anything: crayons, pens, pencils and sidewalk chalk. Every time we walk out of the building and he sees what we drew he says, "Ooooo!"

Playground cutie.

Crazy mom and Soren.

When were taking a walk, Soren saw this tree and said, "Wow!" I think it's pretty too.

Adorable after bath picture of Soren and papa.

Leslie's been tagged by Jentri

10 Years Ago: I was in the music group R.E.A.L. Basically a female N'Sync. So fun! Picture above.

3) contact references for application
4) pay bills

3 of my bad habits:
1) slouching
2) biting my nails when I'm extremely anxious
3) not communicating what I'm feeling sometimes

5 places I have lived:
1) Orlando, FL
2) Winter Park, FL
3) San Diego, CA
4) Encinitas, CA
5) Oakland, CA

Jobs I have had:
1)16,000 videos
2) Blockbuster Customer Service Representative
3) Old Navy associate

Things people don't know about me:
1) I was bussed across town first through fifth grade due to desegregation and I was one of maybe three white people in my classes for all those years. I am so thankful for this. It helped me develop a love for the African-American race and my African-American music teacher really nurtured my love for music.
2) I can't stand to have my nails uneven. If one or two of them break or snag, I have to cut all of them down.
3) I have never ever tried alcohol.

P.S. I hate when people say "melk, pellow," and especially "mashmallow" too. Watery Oreos though? : P
